Project Overview

Project: Brainly Health Website and Mobile Design.

Role: Brainly Health Website and Mobile Design

Duration: Spring 2023 (March)

Responsibilities

Interview organizer, Schematic design, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accessibility studies, design iteration and responsive design.

The product

Brainy Health is a responsive mental health services website. The typical user is between the ages of 20 and 35, and most users are college students or adult parents with a professional job. Brainy Health's objective is to provide a generalized therapy service for people who do not have clinics near where they live, in addition to identifying mental illnesses through tests.

Problem

Available online services and mental health websites have cluttered designs with information and navigation inefficiencies.

The goal

Design a responsive website to be easy to use, less complex and with clear user flows, while maintaining virtual therapy access to a widespread community.

User Research

Summary

I started by conducting user interviews, which I then turned into empathy maps to understand the target user and their needs. I found that most of the target users find better opportunities by acquiring mental health information online or attending virtual therapy through video conferencing tools, however, many websites are complex and confusing to navigate, which frustrates users. Even when the search experience for these psychological services is thanks to difficult decisions, the user experience becomes a challenge when there are no accessible tools, defeating the purpose of finding these psychological health opportunities.

Pain Points

Navigation:Mental health institution website designs often have redundant information, resulting in confusing navigation.

Interaction: The structure of the websites of mental health institutions makes it difficult to identify the desired sections, which sometimes causes frustration among users.

Personas

Andrea(20)

Andrea is a Dentist Student who needs access virtual therapies and share her experiences in a community to Prioritize her mental health without having to clutter up her schedule.

Lorenzo(36)

Lorenzo is an IT Manager and family man who needs A stress management tool that allows his to communicate his emotions a.

User Journey

Created a user journey map of Andrea's experience using the site to help identify potential pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Sitemap

The main difficulty was navigation, so I made a sitemap. My goal here was to decide on information architecture design that would improve the overall navigation of the website.

Paper Wireframes

I made Wireframes on paper of the design of my website, the weak points of the users were considered for the schematization.

Digital Wireframes

Later I transferred my paper designs to digital schematics, seeing all the elements within the digital environment helped me understand the general structure of the information. I prioritized a minimalist design.

Lo-Fi Prototype

Finally, in lo-fi prototyping, icons and responsive fonts were added, screens were wired to represent flow. At this point I received feedback on button placement and font size, I made sure to implement the feedback within this Prototype.

Usability studies

Study Type: Unmoderated usability study.

Location: Mexico City, remote.

Participants: 5 Participants.

Time: 30 minutes.

Usability studies: Findings

On the dashboard, users could not find subscription prices without having an account.

Users need a confirmation screen at the end of the whole process.

Users need to see active plans from their profile.

Style-Guide

Hi-Fi Prototype

My high-fidelity prototype followed the same user flow as the low fidelity prototype and included the design changes made after the usability study.

Takeaways

Impact: Our users mention that the minimalist design makes navigation easier, the images are attractive, and the structure of the page is clear and concise.

What I learned: I learned that design will always have a long but safe process, it is necessary to maintain iterative processes accompanied by feedback to improve the product and create things that users use.
