Project Overview
Project: WabiByte Website Design.
Role: UX designer leading the design of the Wabibyte website.
Duration: Spring 2023 (Feb - March)
The product
Wabibyte is an academic and technology services website. The typical user is between the ages of 18 and 40, and most users are college students or business owners. Wabibyte's goal is to abstract the complexity of using various SaaS, PaaS and IaaS technologies to teach in a fun way as well as provide implementation, support or development services for companies.
Problem
Available online service and academic websites have disorganized, cluttered, and inaccessible designs, inefficient systems for navigating through products, and confusing processes.
The goal
Design a Wabibyte website to be easy to use, less complex and with clear user flows.
User Research
Summary
I started by conducting user interviews, which I then converted into empathy maps to understand the target user and their needs. I found that most target users find better opportunities by taking online courses or mentoring or applying for services, however, many complex websites are complex and confusing to navigate which frustrates users. This turned a normally pleasant experience into a challenge for them, defeating the purpose of finding these learning or business optimization opportunities.
Pain Points
Navigation: Academic and service website designs often have redundant information, resulting in confusing navigation.
Interaction: The structure of the websites makes it difficult to identify the desired sections, which sometimes leads users to get confused.
Personas
Simon(40)
Simon Is a startup founder who needs an easy way to keep his team up to date and automate management processes to prioritize, save time and optimize the processes of his startups.
Anette(19)
Anette is a computer science student and mentor who needs an easy way to keep up to date with the development of new computer technologies to save time searching for information on the Internet and applying her knowledge to her projects, as well as helping her colleagues.
User Journey
I created a user journey map of Simon and Anette experience using the site to help identify possible pain points and improvement opportunities.
Sitemap
The main difficulty was navigation, so I made a sitemap. My goal here was to decide on information architecture design that would improve the overall navigation of the website.
Paper Wireframes
I made Wireframes on paper of the design of my website, the weak points of the users were considered for the schematization.
Digital Wireframes

Takeaways
Impact: Our users mention that the minimalist design makes navigation easier, the images are attractive, and the structure of the page is clear and concise.
What I learned: I learned that design will always have a long but safe process, it is necessary to maintain iterative processes accompanied by feedback to improve the product and create things that users use.
